Reflexology

Reflexology is an holistic therapy which works on  the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands corresponding to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can assist well-being in a safe and natural way.

The history of Reflexology begins back in ancient civilisations across the world. The earliest evidence comes from the tomb of an Egyptian physician, dated 2500BC.

In the early 1900’s, influenced by Sir Charles Sherrington (Nobel prize-winner for medicine), Dr William Fitzgerald discovered that by applying pressure on certain parts of the body it would have a numbing effect on another part of the body. This work was continued and refined into what we now know today as Reflexology.

Reflexology can help reduce everyday stresses and strains, aiding relaxation, improve circulation, thereby revitalising energy levels. It can also be used to aid the restoration and maintenance of the body’s natural equilibrium, encouraging natural feelings of wellbeing.

Reflexology can be incorporated into a preventative healthcare lifestyle, which is becoming more and more important in modern life, as we continue to realise the damage caused to health by our environment.

Because of advertising restrictions, we are not allowed to make claims regarding the effectiveness of Reflexology with specific conditions. However, medical trials have been done that demonstrate the efficacy of this wonderful therapy.
